Nuisance Alligators
This pertains to alligator sightings in the various ponds and provides information regarding the initiation of nuisance alligator calls.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission provides the Statewide Nuisance Alligator Program. The program in part strives to reduce the threat from alligators to people and their property in developed areas.
Nuisance alligators are normally those over 4 feet in length that pose an active threat to people, pets, or property. Upon notification and verification, the Commission can issue a trapping permit for the collection and disposal of the gator.
Concerned homeowners may report nuissance alligators by calling the 866-FWC-GATOR (866-392-4286). Callers should be prepared to describe the nuisance situation, give the approximate length of the alligator, identify the normal location and time of day of the sightings, and in some cases be available to show an assigned trapper the usual location of the animal.
The Commission may request to obtain permission from the HOA for entering the subdivision to trap the animal. For that request, simply provide them with the HOA Manager's contact at (813) 968-5665 extension 334.
